Clarkesville Main Street is proud to announce “Dinner and A Movie,” a collaboration between Habersham Community Theatre (HCT), Clarkesville Main Street, and downtown restaurants.
The Habersham Community Theatre will return to its former glory as a movie house on Saturday, March 21st with the featured presentation “Jaws.” The 1975 classic horror film celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. Customers who purchase a movie ticket for $8 will receive dinner specials at participating downtown restaurants. Specials will be listed on the back of each ticket. Two showings will be offered: a 3PM Matinee and a 7PM evening show.
“The Dinner & A Movie idea came out of the recently presented Clarkesville Master Plan,” explained Mary Beth Horton, Clarkesville Main Street Manager. “Through a series of surveys and town hall meetings, it was determined that our community wanted to see more evening events downtown. Since HCT is such a beloved Clarkesville icon, it made sense to incorporate them into a packaged event, boosting traffic to our local restaurants and shops.”
“HCT is happy to sink our teeth into this opportunity,” exclaimed Justin Dudkiewicz, HCT President. “We hope that the community will enjoy this unique event. It is wonderful to be able to show movies in the Historic Habersham Theatre again.”
Event volunteers promise a movie-house experience complete with a red carpet, “Jaws” memorabilia and decor, and concessions including the purchase of beer and wine. Each show can accommodate up to 100 patrons. Ticket holders must present tickets to participating restaurants to receive the advertised special.
“Dinner and A Movie provides a significant boost to downtown Clarkesville’s image as a place in which people not only can enjoy good dining and shopping, but can now also enjoy arts/cultural experiences through this unique event,” says Sherry Callahan, Main Street volunteer and member of Clarkesville Business & Community Association.
Tickets can be purchased online at habershamtheater.org or by calling 706-839-1315. A link to ticket sales can also be found on clarkesvillega.com. The next Dinner and A Movie feature will be “Back to the Future II” showing on May 2nd.
