Jan. 6 committee schedules last-minute hearing for Tuesday

A onetime top aide to former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows is expected to testify before the Jan. 6 select committee today. Cassidy Hutchinson is scheduled to appear before the panel at a hearing set for 1 p.m. ET.

The committee abruptly scheduled the hearing on Monday “to present recently obtained evidence and receive witness testimony.” The announcement about Tuesday’s hearing came as a surprise. The committee had been expected to take a brief break until the week of July 11.

This will be the committee’s sixth public hearing, focusing on the Jan. 6, 2020, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. More hearings will be held after Congress’ Fourth of July recess. The committee is expected to deliver a full report on its findings in September.

The June 28th hearing will be broadcast on all major television and cable news networks and livestreamed by the Jan. 6 House select committee. The livestream may be viewed above or on the committee’s YouTube channel by clicking here.
