James Moore Crawford, age 93, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away on Saturday, December 29th, 2018.
Mr. Crawford was born on June 6th, 1925 in Cornelia, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Vernon Wyly and Marjorie Wood Crawford; mother, Olivia Bell Hood; brothers, Vernon McCleskey Crawford, and James Wyly Crawford.
Mr. Crawford was a graduate of the Decatur Boys’ High School, then attended the Georgia School of Technology, and later graduated from the University of Miami: School of Law. He practiced law for over 34 years. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served in the 55th Engineer Brigade, 10th Armored Division in World War II. Mr. Crawford was of the Baptist Faith. He was also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the Military Order of the Stars and Bars, Sons of the American Revolution, the Disabled American Veterans, the 10th Armored Division Veterans Association, The Southern Historical Museum in Houston, Texas, The Florida Bar from 1951 to 1994, the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity, the Delta Tau Delta Legal Fraternity, and The Society of Southern Families in Miami, Florida.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, James Vernon and Lisabeth F. Crawford, of Miami, FL ; sisters, Lassie Lee, of Jacksonville, FL; Ina L. Crawford, of Callaway, FL; sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Fredrick Sahlin, of Fort Walton Beach, FL; granddaughters, Jamie Crawford Harmon and spouse, Thomas; Samantha Crawford; great-grandchildren, Risden Harmon, Nestor Chacon, Victor Chacon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2019 at Level Grove Cemetery with Rev. Terry Rice officiating.
