James Leroy Blalock, age 80 of Enigma, Ga, passed away on October 4, 2020, at the Tift Regional MedicalCenter.
As many knew him, Roy was born in Worth County, Georgia, on September 30, 1940, to the late Willie Frank and Alma Blalock. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and was retired from the City of Albany as a firefighter.
He also was responsible for helping raise money to open View Fire Department in Cornelia, Ga., where he served as fire chief. He was known for growing gardens in the community and allowing the less fortunate to come to pick anything they wanted before his health deteriorated.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Blalock was preceded in death by his daughter Donna Lynne Blalock on August 4, 2020, daughter-in-law Debbie Lynn Blalock, and his brothers W.H and Darrell Blalock.
Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Kimberly Blalock of the home, Sharon (Greg) Canup of Alto, Ga. Son, Willie Frank Blalock of Alto, Ga. Grandchildren Tiffany (Josh) Brown of Alto, Ga, Gregory (Santana) Garner, Tifton Ga, Dream Hain, and Dane Culver, Cornelia Ga. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Patience, Damian & Dixie, and by his sister and brother-in-law Dorothy (Troy) Suggs, Tifton, Ga., and sister-in-law Lindia Faye Blalock, of Cornelia, Ga., as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
