James “Jimmy” C. Ramey, age 98, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, following an extended illness.
Mr. Ramey was born on August 20, 1925, in Warren County, Georgia, to the late Homer Fred Ramey and Ethel Irene Trotter Ramey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Ellen Crane Ramey; sons, Keith Ramey, Dwayne Ramey, Jerry Ramey; sisters, Irene Bloodworth, Mary Lovell; brother, William Thomas Ramey. He was the last of his immediate family.
Mr. Ramey was a United States Army Veteran having served during World War II. He was a Machinist all his adult life and retired from Roper Pump Company with 35 years of service. Jimmy will be remembered for his love of singing and reminiscing about the past.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Virginia Allen Ramey, of Toccoa; son, Steve Ramey, of Baldwin; daughter, Reginia Gail Woodward, of Cornelia; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00, Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the Yonah Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Joey Whitlock officiating and military honors provided by the Grant Reeves Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel.
