J. T. Goss, age 80 of Clarkesville, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Habersham Medical Center.
Born in Habersham County on September 17, 1934, he was a son of the late Burns Goss and Lila Bell Goss. Mr. Goss retired as a custodian, having worked for Clarkesville Elementary, from Habersham County School System with 18 years of service. He was a member of Amy’s Creek Baptist Church and in his spare time enjoyed farming, gardening, his beloved mule, Abraham, wagon trains, and time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas “T. B” Goss, C. T. Goss, and S. T. Goss. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving are loving wife, Essie Free Goss of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Tim & Lyda Goss of the home; son, Tilmond Goss of Caraway, Arkansas; daughter, Taryn Goss Jones of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Wayne Goss, Haley Goss, and Fellica Goss; 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services are 11:00 am Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Amy’s Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Austin Kelley and Rev. Richard Barker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Steve Merck officiating. Mr. Goss will lie-in-state from 10 am until the service hour and all family and friends are requested to meet at the church by 10 am on Tuesday.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Monday.
