J. B. Armour, age 97, of Alto, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023.
Born on January 15, 1926, in Augusta, he was the son of the late Jack Armour and Pauline Pittman Armour. Mr. Armour was retired from Hall County School System, where he served as a bus driver and was a self-employed mechanic. In his spare time, J. B. enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loafing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Clara Mae Cragg Armour; son, Joe Armour; sisters, Alma Wiley Crane, Thelma Brock, Elizabeth Wade Couch, Louise Oliver, and Susie Stancil.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Armour (Debra) of Cornelia, Don Armour (Debbie) of Alto, Tony Armour (Lori) of Alto, Melvin Armour (Jacklyn) of Homer; daughter-in-law, Leona Armour of Cornelia; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, James Armour and L.D. Armour (Genelle) all of Alto; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at The Oaks at Scenic View and Pruitt Health Hospice for their care of Mr. Armour during his recent illness.
The funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart, with Rev. Donnie Wilkes and Rev. Jacob Armour officiating. Interment will follow in Living Mission United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023, and 10:00 am until the service hour on Saturday, September 2, 2023, both at the funeral home.
