Sex offenders nabbed in random checks

Four registered sex offenders in Hall County face additional charges following an evening of random searches.

Investigators with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and Gainesville Field Office of the Georgia Department of Community Supervision (DCS) conducted the searches on Wednesday, June 14, to make sure the probationers were complying with the law.

Investigators arrested two men and implicated two others for violating their probation:

  • Bailey James Peterson, 25, of Gainesville – Arrested for probation violation (possession of pornographic images).
  • Tremayne Deshawn Gill, 22, of Gainesville- Arrested for probation violation (curfew, possession of sexually-explicit images and being around minors unsupervised).
  • David Andrew Butterworth, 47, of Gainesville – Referred to DCS Marietta Field Office for prosecution (possession of sexually-oriented material).
  • Jeffrey Paul Graham, 63, Gainesville – Referred to DCS Dahlonega Field Office for prosecution (possession of sexually-oriented material and photos of minors.)

The HCSO Sex Offender Registration and Tracking (SORT) Unit, DCS, and other agencies regularly partner on operations to ensure compliance.

“An operation like this requires seamless interagency collaboration–it is nearly impossible to do alone. DCS is grateful for the agencies and departments who have partnered with us to make this operation a success,” says Bradley Fleming, DCS District 9 Public Information Officer.

“I appreciate the work our SORT Unit carries out every day to keep track of our registered sex offenders,” Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch says. “We always appreciate the opportunity to work with partner agencies like DCS to keep our community safe.”
