Hall County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators arrested an Atlanta man Monday morning on numerous criminal counts related to his alleged sexual exploitation of a minor.

Investigators took 48-year-old Ali Rezaie Shahmirzadi into custody on April 21 when he arrived at a location in the 3000 block of Mundy Mill Road. According to the sheriff’s office, Shahmirzadi traveled to Hall County to have sex with an individual he thought was a female under the age of 16.

According to the initial investigation, Shahmirzadi had been having sexually explicit conversations with the individual on social media since Feb. 20, a news release from the sheriff’s office states. Investigators say he also sent pornographic images and videos.

Authorities obtained arrest warrants charging Shahmirzadi with 15 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of grooming a child for indecent purposes. All the charges are felonies.

Deputies took Shahmirzadi to the Hall County Jail, where he remained held without bond on Tuesday morning, April 22.

The case remains under investigation by HCSO and the Georgia ICAC Task Force.
