Being down 3-0 after the first half inning didn’t deter the #4-ranked Indians, who run-ruled West Oak at home Monday in a 16-6 final.
Drew Barron got his first varsity action as the starter, and was touched for three runs in his first inning of work. He then settled in nicely as the bats came to life. Diego Gonzalez had an RBI infield hit to score Caden Walker in the first.
In the third, TFS scored five times, highlighted by an Ashton Roache RBI hit and a Chris Waldron run-scoring double. West Oak got it all back and tied the game at 6-6, capitalizing on walks and miscues in the fourth. The Indians scored five again in the bottom of the fifth. Roache had a sac fly, and three runs scored on a fly ball hit by Skvarka that was misplayed by the center fielder.
In the sixth, Chase Pollock had a 2-run single and Waldron added an RBI base hit as well. The last two runs scored on an error, followed by David Dutary taking home on a wild pitch to end the game with the 16-6 win.
Danny Grant, Chase Pollock, and Chris Waldron had two hits apiece. Waldron, Pollock, and Roache each had two RBI. Eight different players scored runs. Andrew Skvarka picked up the win in relief by going 1.1 flawless innings with a punchout. Barron ended with five strikeouts.
