A car collided with a pickup truck on Highway 115 Thursday morning, killing the truck driver. The Georgia State Patrol identifies the deceased driver as 62-year-old Wendell Lovell of Cleveland.

The crash happened just before 10 a.m. near Holiness Campground Road. According to a report released late Thursday by the state patrol, Lovell was driving a Chevrolet S-10 pickup east on Highway 115 when a westbound Hyundai Elantra crossed over the centerline. The Elantra struck the pickup, causing the truck to overturn onto its side.

Lovell was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Elantra, Kayla Brooke Osburn, 25, of Commerce, was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment.

A Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting the state patrol post in Gainesville with the crash investigation.

GSP Public Information Officer Konswello Monroe says the investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending.

The wreck shut down Highway 115 near the crash site for several hours. The road reopened by mid-afternoon.
