Three candidates have qualified in Habersham County to run in two special elections in November.

Qualifying for the Baldwin City Council Post 2 seat and the Habersham County Board of Education District 4 seat wrapped up Friday. Both elections are being held to fill unexpired terms.

Baldwin City Council Post 2

In Baldwin, Nancy Lehman and Mark Mullinax will see their names on the ballot this November in the city’s special election to fill the seat vacated by Joseph Satterfield.

The winner of that election will serve the remainder of Satterfield’s term through December 31, 2027.

Satterfield stepped down from the Baldwin City Council last month because he is moving out of state.

Habersham County Board of Education District 4

Former Habersham County school administrator Darlene Hudson is seeking to fill Kristie Dover’s unexpired term on the Habersham County Board of Education. Hudson was the sole qualifier for the District 4 seat, which the Board of Education appointed her to in June to serve until the election.

Hudson is a former administrator for the Habersham County School System. She retired in May after 34 years as an educator. From 2005 to her retirement, she served as an administrator at six different schools in Habersham County.

Dover resigned in February. If no write-in candidates qualify to run against Hudson, the election will be canceled and Hudson will serve out the remainder of Dover’s term through December 31, 2026.

Anyone wishing to run as a write-in candidate must file their notice of intent with the elections office. For more information, contact the Habersham County Elections and Voter Registration Office at 706-839-0170.
