Hoyt Benton Parson, age 88, of Alto, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021.
Born in Cornelia, Georgia, on March 14, 1933, he was a son of the late Purvie Benton Parson and Milda Myrtle Dale Parson. Mr. Parson was a faithful man of God, committed to witnessing and sharing God’s word. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who loved fishing and hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Omazell Armour Parson; sons, Wesley Parson and Stanley Parson; grandchildren, Dasha Parson and Steve Troy Parson; daughter-in-law, Karen Parson; brother, Harold Parson; sisters, Isabell Oliver, Ruth Ward, and Louise Thompson.
Surviving are his sons, Steve Parson and J.B. Parson, both of Alto; daughters and son-in-law, Shirley & Charlie Akers of Alto and Linda Hopper of Cornelia; grandchildren, Leah Williams, Amy Hilland, Cody Parson, Charles Akers, Doug Akers, Larry Hopper, Joseph Hopper, Jeremy Parson and Chasten Parson; sisters, Ethelyene Roberts of Bronson, Florida, Joyce Parker of Pea Ridge and Margie Oliver of Clermont; 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 pm, Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at the Torch Worship Center, with Rev. Mike Franklin and Mr. Chasten Parson officiating. Interment will follow in Baldwin City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home and from 1 pm until 2:30 pm on Wednesday.
