How to stay safe while having fun this Halloween

There’s a funny meme circulating the internet right now that pretty well sums up many peoples’ attitudes. It starts out by asking, “Anyone else feel like Halloween is unnecessary this year?” That’s followed by: “I’ve been wearing a mask and eating candy for 7 months now, I don’t think I need a day dedicated to it anymore.”

While good for a laugh and right on target with many, the annual fall passage that is Halloween is not going anywhere, even in the midst of this pandemic.

Traditional Halloween activities are fun, but the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) cautions that some activities can increase the risk of getting or spreading COVID-19 or the flu. The CDC is offering advice on its website about how to make trick-or-treating and other seasonal activities safer.

The Northeast Georgia Health System also has issued a comprehensive list of COVID-19 Halloween Safety tips. We encourage you to read it, heed it, and share it so that you and other mays have a happy and SAFE Halloween!
