House burns in Mt. Airy

The State Fire Marshal’s Office has been called to investigate a house fire that broke out Tuesday evening in Mount Airy.

The fire on Railroad Avenue was reported shortly before 5 p.m. on Dec. 10. Smoke could be seen pouring from the modular home, which crews on the scene reported was undergoing construction work and unoccupied.

Baldwin firefighters and units from Habersham County Emergency Services and Cornelia responded to the scene. Railroad Avenue was closed for more than an hour as crews worked to extinguish the fire.

There were no reports of injuries.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
