Horace Fenley Bennett, age 84, of Alto, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022, following an extended illness.
Mr. Bennett was born on February 2, 1938, to the late Henry Triplet and Cora Wade Bennett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his son, Robbie William Bennett; brothers, Paul Bennett, Grady Bennett, Lathan Bennett, Doyal Bennett; sisters, Nettie Bennett, Margaret Bellamy, Mamie Galley, Olivia Dorsey, Eleanor Galley, Authel Maness. Grandparents, William and Sarah Jane Cromer Bennett; and John and Mary Wade.
Mr. Bennett served in the US Air Force in the Crypto unit. He was a member of the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, Habersham County American Legion #84, and Rabun County DAV Chapter 15. He served as a justice of the peace for many years.
Mr. Bennett was retired from Coca-Cola after 32 years of service. After retirement, he worked with Vend and then Fieldale as a QC Technician. In addition to his strong work ethic, Horace was an avid collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia, enjoyed Nascar, fishing, hunting, traveling, mining for gold, rock hunting, and finding a good arrowhead was a great find any day for him. Horace and Patsy will be married for 62 years on July 26, 2022. He was known by his family as Pops. He was dedicated to his family and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be truly missed by all.
Survivors include his loving wife, Patsy Parks Bennett, Alto; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Barry Lewallen; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Cynthia Bennett, Alto; granddaughter, Shelbi Bennett, FL; grandson and wife, Steven and Tonya Bennett, Baldwin; great-grandchildren, Raelyn and Emersyn Bennett; Several nieces and nephews; caretakers, Annette Boling, Homer, Deb McClellon, Cornelia.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2022, at the Whitfield Funeral Home South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. Donald Wade, Rev. Scott Ledbetter, and Rev. Leon Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive family and friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2022, at the funeral home.
