Fire investigators say a blaze that burned several residents from their home in Homer was accidental.

Around 9:42 p.m. on Dec. 29, firefighters from Banks County, Homer, and Jackson County CI responded to a call at 183 Chambers Street. Upon arrival, crews found a single-family structure with fire showing from the building.

Crews checked for occupants and extinguished the flames. The house sustained heavy damage, but no one was injured.

Banks County Fire Chief Steve Nichols says the fire was caused by an electrical shortage. The residents were displaced, and the Red Cross was called to assist them.
