Homer Leroy Free, age 93 of Demorest, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 28, 2021, surrounded by his family following an extended illness.
Born in Habersham County, Georgia on June 27, 1928, he was a son of the late Lester Lee & Manona Gragg Free. Homer served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Piedmont Automotive Products, Inc. with many years of dedicated service. In his spare time, Homer enjoyed traveling with his kids and grandkids, enjoying every moment of precious time they had together. He was a faithful member of Hills Crossing Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Doris Ann Jenkins Free; daughters & sons-in-law, Martha & Frankie Tanksley, Karen & Jimmy Roberts, Nancy & Rod Tomlin, Pam & Rev. Greg Pruitt; brother, Nelson Free; sisters, Jessie Tench, Bessie Groves, & Essie Goss; grandchildren, Jeffrey & Shana Tanksley, Jason & Carey Anderson, Michele & Blake Wikle, Dawn & Ricky McEntire, Brandi & Jason Kimbrell, Ashley & Kevin Worley, Kasey & Neil Reems; great-grandchildren, Chesney Tanksley, Samuel & Aubrey Anderson, Chandler & Anna Grace Wikle, Madison & Skylar McEntire, Madeline Garrison, Baileigh Kimbrell, Cole Kimbrell, Riley Kimbrell, Braxton & Lilly Worley, Kathryn & Andie Reems; great-great-grandchild, Charlie Little as well as a host of other relatives, & friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 09, 2021, at Hills Crossing Baptist Church with Rev. Austin Kelley & Rev. Walter Singletary officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery with Rev. David Stancil officiating at the graveside. Military Honors will be provided by the Grant Reeves Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
