Homeowner holds suspect at gunpoint until deputies arrive

(Cleveland)- A White County burglary suspect was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after he was held at gunpoint by one of the victims. Captain Rick Kelley, with the White County Sheriff’s Office said in an email, the incident occurred around 1PM on Post Road, South of Cleveland.

Kelley said the suspect, identified as 38- year old  Levi Ross Grindle,  is accused of breaking into a shop near his residence, also on Post Road. The victim reported the man stole a 2008 Ford F-450 truck, some cash, a bag of pretzels, and some beer. As the man was leaving the residence the homeowner met the offender in the driveway.

According to Kelley the homeowner saw the offender drive past her in her husband’s truck and then he drove the truck across the street to the neighbor’s house and parked it in the driveway. The female homeowner called 911 and  then called her neighbor at work and advised him what was going on at his house.

The  neighbor raced home and found the offender driving thru his cornfield on  an  Artic Cat ATV, which the victim advised had been stolen out of his garage. The neighbor stopped the offender and held him at gunpoint until the deputies arrived on scene.

Captain Kelley said, Grindle was taken into custody and charged with two counts of Burglary and  two counts of theft by taking.

The investigation is ongoing.
