Investigators have determined that a man found dead at a homeless camp Friday morning in Gainesville was murdered. The body of Billie Lee Davis, 37, was found along the woodline at the edge of the camp in the Queen City Parkway bridge area.
A homeless camp resident alerted officials to the scene just after 8:30 a.m. on May 13. Detectives with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division ruled his death a homicide. Davis’ family members have been notified.
“Davis was homeless, but investigators are working to determine if he lived in that particular camp or another,” says HCSO Public Information Officer BJ Williams.
At this time, investigators are not discussing how Davis died. Williams says the investigation is active and ongoing.
