Homeless man killed by train identified

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man killed by a train in Gainesville over the weekend as Keith Lamont Bryant.

Officials say Bryant was part of the homeless community and had been living in Gainesville for the past several years. They had a difficult time locating his family; however, within hours of releasing his name, the investigator was able to contact Bryant’s next of kin, says Hall County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer B.J. Williams.

The 39-year-old Bryant was killed in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 17, while walking on the southbound tracks near Dorsey Street and Industrial Boulevard. Investigators said at the time it appeared Bryant walked deliberately into the northbound train’s path.
