Home invasion in Lavonia leads to multiple arrests

Three individuals face charges after illegal substances and firearms are discovered

A home invasion in Lavonia led to the arrest of three individuals and the discovery of various illegal substances and firearms.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call about a home invasion on Highway 17 in Lavonia Monday evening, Feb. 24. Law enforcement from multiple agencies, including the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Lavonia Police Department, and Georgia State Patrol, arrived at the scene.

Following an investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, two South Carolina residents were charged with first-degree burglary and third-degree cruelty to children. The caller who reported the home invasion was arrested and charged with possession of THC oil, marijuana, and cruelty to children.

The investigation continued on Tuesday, Feb. 25, with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office executing search warrants at the property. During the searches, authorities say they discovered and seized firearms, currency, and a vehicle.

Franklin County Sheriff Scott Andrews says additional charges have been filed, including possession of Schedule I drugs with intent to distribute (Psilocybin mushrooms), possession of Schedule Il drugs with intent to distribute (hydrocodone), and possession of Schedule IV drugs (alprazolam).

Sheriff Andrews says, “Additional suspects and warrants will be forthcoming.”
