The events of Holy Week have been bringing Christians together for generations. This year three Cornelia churches invite the community to gather with them to remember, worship, and fellowship for their Holy Week Mid-Day Gatherings.
Replacing the traditional Lenten Luncheons, each service will start at noon in the respective church’s sanctuary. Following a brief time of music, a speaker will deliver a Holy Week Devotional for the day. After the devotional, everyone is invited to stay for a light lunch provided by each church at 12:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Halls.
“Help make this new event a success by inviting friends, family and co-workers to these services,” said Eric Spivey, pastor, First Baptist Church of Cornelia. Mark your calendars now for the dates/places below:
- Monday, March 21, First Baptist Church, Cornelia. Speaker: Dr. Charles Smith, pastor, Madison Baptist Church
- Wednesday, March 23, Cornelia United Methodist Church. Speaker: Dr. Jay Hughes, pastor
- Friday, March 25, First Presbyterian Church, Cornelia. Speaker: Rev. Jason Edwards, pastor
“There is something sacred about walking through Holy Week together–not only with my church–but even more with the broader Church and community,” explained Spivey. “It forces me to look beyond my needs to see the world for which Jesus died and rose again.”
