Hiker suffers allergic reaction at Panther Creek Falls

A hiker had to be rescued from Panther Creek Falls over the weekend after she suffered a possible allergic reaction to yellowjacket stings.

Just after 3:20 p.m. on July 8, a 911 caller reported a pregnant woman had been stung in the face and needed help.

Habersham County E-911 dispatched Habersham County Emergency Services to the falls in Turnerville, located in the northeastern part of the county. The Tallulah Falls Fire Department also responded.

The command on scene requested additional personnel from Rabun County Rescue for help carrying out the victim. Although Rabun units had a simultaneous rescue call inside their county, they did send some personnel to assist.

The woman was loaded onto an ATV at 6:09 p.m. for the 10-minute transport to a waiting ambulance. The ambulance transported her to an area hospital for medical care.
