They went 10-5 in regular season matches, placed second in the region (7-2) and made it to the third round of the state playoffs: There’s no denying that the Habersham Central Raiders men’s soccer team had a fantastic year. It was cut short just shy of the state championship by Duluth Saturday in overtime but, still, it was a remarkable achievement. This was the team’s first playoff season since 2012, it’s 10th in the last 14 years.
The soccer team was recognized by HCHS Athletic Director Geep Cunningham during Monday night’s Board of Education meeting. He called the team members “a great, hard-working bunch of guys” and said they do “a spectacular job.” He added, “It’s fun to watch them play.”
The team is coached by Ric Wallace.
