There’s an increased risk of outdoor burns getting out of control today across North and Central Georgia. The National Weather Service says high fire danger conditions will continue through 8 p.m. Friday.
A very dry air mass has settled over the region. Relative humidity values are expected to drop into the teens to lower 20 percent range and breezy conditions are expected at times. These conditions, combined with dry fuels, could cause fires to spread.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities before doing any outdoor burning. If you do burn outside, use extreme caution.
Overnight Freeze Warning
Some areas under high fire danger alerts will experience extremely cold temperatures overnight.
A Freeze Warning is in effect from midnight tonight through 10 a.m. Saturday for portions of central and north Georgia.
Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 are expected.
If you live in the warned area (see below) forecasters encourage you to take steps now to protect your pets, crops, plants, and outdoor plumbing.
