The National Weather Service has issued a high fire danger alert for much of North Georgia.
High pressure will bring mostly sunny skies and dry air to the region again today (April 16). Relative humidity will drop below 25 percent during the afternoon. Winds will be out of the north and northeast at 5 to 10 MPH.
Fuels are expected to continue drying out following the recent rainfall.
Together, these conditions will increase the danger of wildfires.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
