Henry Thomas “Tommy” Hughes, age 80, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020.
Born on May 18, 1940, in Carrolton, Alabama, he was a son of the late William Thomas “Bill” and Virginia Lila Killian Hughes. Mr. Hughes was an engineer and Plant Manager with E/Z Bore, Inc. He was a member of Damascus Baptist Church and was also a United States Army veteran.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hughes was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Chambers Hughes; brother, Gene Hughes; brother-in-law, Jack Howell; sister-in-law, Eileen Hughes.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Debra Hughes and Derrick and Jamie Hughes all of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Kayla Hughes, Jonathan Hughes, Gracie Hughes, Bryson Shirley, and Brayden Hughes; brothers and sister-in-law, Barney Bill and Mavis Hughes of North Port, Alabama and Jimmy Hughes of Ethelsville, Alabama; sisters and brothers-in-law, Octavia Howell of Gordo, Alabama, Hazel Ann and Ron Capes of Auburn, Alabama and Mary Ruth and Bobby Butler of Crestview, Florida; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are 11 am on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at Eastview Cemetery in Mt. Airy, with Rev. Ben Huff officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until the service hour on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at the cemetery.
