HEMC Retires $1,500,000 in Capital Credits

For the 29th consecutive year, HEMC Members received capital credit checks in late November. Since 1987, HEMC has returned more than 12 million dollars. The 2015 retirement of capital credits includes the years 1984, 1985 and a portion of 1986.

Member capital is utilized for a period of time to finance electric system improvements and maintain the financial strength required by HEMC’s lenders and is then returned, demonstrating our cooperative, non-profit operation.

HEMC issues checks for $10 or more. If the credit is less than $10, the funds are retained until they add up to that amount in future capital credits. A check will then be mailed at the next capital credit retirement date.
