HEMC monitoring Hurricane Florence

Habersham EMC says it’s closely monitoring Hurricane Florence and the potential impact on its six-county service area in Northeast Georgia.

The local cooperative provides electrical service to over 25,000 members in Habersham, Hall, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, and White counties.

“We are preparing with people and materials. Additional preparations will be made as the forecast warrants,” says HEMC’s Director of Strategy Execution Nicole Dover.

“We do encourage everyone to remain aware of their surroundings and changing weather conditions,” Dover says. “Please treat all downed lines as if energized, avoid the area and report them immediately to HEMC.”
