Habersham EMC is celebrating its sixth consecutive year with no lost time accidents. The local electric cooperative issued a press release heralding the workplace milestone.
Given the inherent dangers of electrical work, it is a record the co-op is understandably proud of.
“This is a huge accomplishment that is only possible because of the dedication, commitment, and pride for every job that our employees perform each day,” says Habersham EMC CEO/President Bryan Ferguson. “It also demonstrates that big things are possible and they start with little things. As individuals, as teams, and as organizations there is nothing we can’t accomplish when we work together.”
HEMC Manager of Safety and Loss Control Jason Rothell says safety is a “continued investment.”
“It doesn’t allow for ‘do-over’ days.’ It doesn’t stop at the gate when we leave to go home. It is a mindset engrained in each individual and part of every task every day,” he says.
According to the press release, HEMC promotes a culture of safety that goes beyond the goal of an injury-free workplace. The co-op says it provides the training, proper tools, personal protective gear, and time for employees to do their jobs safely.
Habersham EMC is headquartered in Clarkesville, Georgia. It serves more than 26,000 members with 3,800 miles of line in six Northeast Georgia counties.
