The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office is collecting school supplies for underprivileged students in the county. They’ve parked a bus outside the sheriff’s office and are encouraging members of the public to help fill the bus with donated supplies now through the end of July.
“We are trying to do our part and help those kids in the community who don’t have school supplies and whose families don’t have the money to provide all the things kids need today,” says Sheriff Joey Terrell.
This second annual supply drive, called Paper and Pencils for Pupils, runs now through July 31. Those wishing to donate may drop off supplies at the sheriff’s office at 1000 Detention Drive in Clarkesville. Monetary donations are also accepted.
“Some folks just donate money, and we pick up the items that are sometimes not provided through the drive,” offers Terrell.
Once the drive ends, the sheriff’s office will turn over the supplies to school principals, who will distribute them to children who need them.
