If you were planning to cast a line in this weekend’s Helen Trout Tournament, think again. The city postponed the annual tournament one week due to unsafe river conditions.
The Chattahoochee River rose above flood stage early Friday following heavy rain from the deadly storm system that swept across the South.
The event is rescheduled for April 3.
The Helen Chamber Festhalle will be open from 4-7 p.m. today, March 26, and from 6 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, for fishermen to pick up their tee-shirts. “Refunds will be available for those who cannot attend next weekend,” a notice from the city states.
If you have any questions, please call the Helen Chamber of Commerce at 706-878-1908 or visit the Helen Trout Tournament Facebook page for updates.
