Without saying it, Habersham Community Theater put together a Christmas Showcase that brings a significant message to those who come to hear it.
You will love the talent that exudes from the stage with community favorites such as LeAnne Challenger, Rylan Pugh, Jonas Corbin, Amber Miller, and Brandy Haberer. There are those who make us laugh, Chris Parker, Rufino Pato, Katie Johnson, and Adam Wiley. And the ever-talented Francie Keene (Clarkesville School of Dance) who knows how to put a show together Broadway style makes the show top-notched.
The men’s group singing “Mary Did You Know” and Lilly Kate Farrar’s “Angels We Have Heard on High” invoke the spirit of the season. One cannot miss the multi-talented Emily McLeod or the talent of Clarkesville School of Dance’s performers.
In all the songs, the dancing, the comedy, and the drama, there is an underlying message that flutters through the audience and bounces off the walls wanting to be heard – the undeniable emotions of Christmas.
From the teenage girl whose father left on Christmas never to return, the angel choir’s acceptance of a less-than-adequate singer, the softness of the familiar Christmas carols, to the comedy of a Christmas pageant, it all ties together what we all experience as we try to navigate the season.
There are those of us searching for the meaning and those fighting to simply get through it. Others are somewhere in the middle of the busyness and chaos, holding on to the beautiful meaning behind the reason for the season.
Habersham Community Theater ties it all together in a variety of song, dance, and humor. Throughout the production, actor Chris Parker is searching for a Christmas bulb he believes holds the joy of the holiday. Much like many of us, there is the longing to find that one thing that will give us meaning and hope.
At the end, the audience is invited to join in the singing of Christmas songs which bring us back to the simplicity of why we celebrate.
You will not want to miss this event. Shows are December 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. and December 15 at 2 p.m. The theater is open one hour before showtime, and the house opens 30 minutes beforehand.
It is always wise to arrive early but if tardiness is unavoidable, please call the box office at (706) 839-1315 to ensure that your seat is reserved for you. If you find you are unable to use your ticket, please let HCT know in advance so that they can seat other patrons.
