On Thursday, October 8th, Habersham Christian Learning Center (HCLC) held its first-ever Drive-Through To-Go Plate Dinner. Over 150 dinners were served and some HCLC t-shirts were given away as well.

The event took up some of the slack in fundraising after the Annual Meeting and Fundraiser had to be canceled in March because of COVID-19. The drive-through dinner event raised $5,500 through the community’s support that will help bridge the financial gap left by March’s canceled meeting. In fact, Sarah Harrison, the executive director of HCLC, states,  “HCLC is right back on track thanks to the lovely people who came out last night!”

Habersham Christian Learning Center, Inc., is a non-denominational, not-for-profit, community-based educational and spiritual service organization. The major thrusts of the Center are:

    to provide life-style and character development courses for high school students through a released time for credit program;

  • to provide guidance and assistance to HCLC students and involved family members with social/emotional/spiritual aspects of living;
  • and to serve as a community resource or support for seminars, Bible studies, workshops, and/or youth activities as requested by the community.

HCLC depends upon grants and community support to provide education support to Habersham high school students. Despite the demands from COVID-19, HLCL has continued to provide classes safely for 88 students, by sanitizing classrooms, equipment, and busses, and offering classes outside whenever possible.
