The Habersham Christian Learning Center is gearing up for another Drive-Thru Dinner fundraiser. The Center hopes to do at least as well as it did during its inaugural event last year by raising $5,000. They hope to ‘sell’ at least 150 plates.

The meal is free but donations are welcome.

The Habersham Christian Learning Center organized its first drive-thru dinner last year after canceling its more formal Annual Meeting sit-down dinner due to COVID.

“We originally began the Drive-Thru Dinners as a replacement for the sit-down Annual Meeting in 2020, but they were such a success that we decided to add them to our regular fundraising calendar!” says HCLC Executive Director Sarah Harrison.

HCLC is planning to host a sit-down Annual Meeting dinner next March.

“Fundraisers like the Drive-Thru dinner allow us to establish a 2022 budget to continue providing free, Christian education to Habersham teens during their school day!” explains Harrison, stressing the importance of this month’s fundraiser.

This year’s drive-thru menu is lasagna, salad, garlic bread, and dessert from Brownies by Faith.

The process is simple: People make their reservations online and drive through to pick up their orders on the day of the event, Tuesday, October 19. Meals will be available that day between 5-7 p.m. at HCLC located at 188 Owens Circle in Mount Airy.

The deadline to order dinner plates is October 11. Visit habershamclc.org for reservations.

HCLC is a nonprofit, non-denominational, non-tax-funded educational and spiritual service organization. It provides elective course credit for students who enroll.

“HCLC is able to teach Christian principles to high school students because we receive no tax dollar funding,” explains Harrison. Funding for staff salaries, facility upkeep, and programs comes from churches, businesses, civic organizations, individuals, and United Way.
