Habersham Central senior, Ege Keskin, has been appointed to the 2020-2021 Georgia State School Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council. The council consists of students in grades 9-12 who discuss how decisions made at the state level are affecting students throughout Georgia. Members meet during the school year with State Superintendent Woods and are advisors who act as liaisons between the Department of Education and the students of Georgia.
In response to the selection, Keskin said, “I hope to contribute not just my own ideas/opinions but the ideas/opinions of the average Habersham Central High School student.” Keskin is one of sixty-five students from across the state selected for the council. HCHS principal, Jonathan Stribling, praised Keskin’s selection, “Ege will be an outstanding addition to the State School Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council. He is a deep thinker who is solution oriented and capable of seeing beyond the obvious. Ege will represent himself, his family, and Habersham Central well as he serves in this capacity.”
At Habersham Central, Keskin serves as president of the Academic Bowl team and vice president of the Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society. He is an academic letterman and has participated in both Advanced Placement and dual enrollment courses, currently taking several courses on the campus of Piedmont College. He enjoys tutoring classmates in the areas of mathematics and science and plans to pursue a degree in mathematics with a future goal of being a college professor.
Keskin is the son of Gulnur Pendaz of Demorest.
