HCHS takes top editing honors in video contest

HCHS students Mary McKay and Nathan Alligood won the award for Outstanding Editing for a video they produced on Ten Cate. They were joined by Ten Cate executives, HCHS media teacher, Jeff Johnson, and NGTC president Dr. Gail Thaxton in receiving the award.

Ten Cate Human Resources Manager Randall Adams and Vice President of Manufacturing Ken Guest  joined HCHS video instructor Jeff Johnson, students Mary McCay and Nathan Alligood and NGTC president Dr. Gail Thaxton for Thursday’s award ceremony in Clarkesville.

Clarkesville, GA – The votes have been counted and the winners are in for the 2014 “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing” video contest. Students from five northeast Georgia high schools, including Habersham Central, submitted entries. The contest was sponsored by the North Georgia Technical College Economic Development Department.

Entries were judged by a panel of judges from Georgia Public Broadcasting. The Viewer’s Choice Award was voted on by the public over five days of online voting that ended Monday, Oct. 20.

The Habersham Central team of Mary McCay and Nathan Alligood took top honors in editing for the video they produced on Habersham County-based manufacturer, Ten Cate.

Viewer’s Choice Award (Most votes) – Franklin – 8,069 votes out of 17,492 total    (Habersham Central received 2,611 votes)

· Outstanding Creativity Award – Franklin County High School and Ross Controls

· Outstanding Educational Value Award – Union County High School and Corrugated Replacements

· Outstanding Team Spirit Award – Union County High School and Corrugated Replacements

· Outstanding Cool! Award – Stephens County High School and Global Partitions

· Outstanding videography Award* – White County High School and Cleveland Tool & Die
