Hazel Gibson Nation, age 77, of Demorest, passed away on January 4, 2014.
Born on May 21, 1937, in Rabun County, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Donnie Nations Gibson. Mrs. Nation was a member of Clarkesville First Presbyterian Church and was formerly employed with Scenic View Healthcare. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and being outdoors.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by sisters, Ethel House and Pearl Tomlin; brothers, Bill, Paul, Gerald, Charlie and Ernest Gibson.
Survivors include daughter, Beth Kelly of Clarkesville; sons, Scott Kelly of Simpsonville, South Carolina and Kenneth Craig Kelly of Demorest; sisters, Carolyn Martin of Clarkesville and Betty Winkler of Demorest; brother, J.H. “Earl” Gibson of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Mekenzie Tipton, Amy Huang, Joshua Kelly and Kayla Kelly; great grandchildren, Isaac and Nolan.
Funeral services are 3 pm on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Lisa Graves and Rev. Chad Holcomb officiating. Interment will follow in Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3-7 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
