The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery at a local convenience store.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, a male armed with a knife entered Hayes Corner Convenience Store and forced the clerk to open the cash register and turn over an undetermined (at this time) amount of money. The man then left the store on foot.
Security footage from the store revealed that the individual was a stocky-build male subject who was completely covered in athletic track pants, a dark-colored hoodie and gloves. His face was also completely covered.
Habersham County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit responded to the scene and worked with Uniform Patrol deputies to attempt to track the man’s movement. The track was unsuccessful, and it appears that the man had a vehicle standing by somewhere near the immediate area of the store.
The investigation is still preliminary in nature and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at (706) 839-0557.
