Hart County fire ruled arson

A reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case

ATLANTA – Fire Investigators with the Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner’s Office have determined a fire that occurred around 6:40 P.M. on Friday, February 28, at a Hart County residence, was intentionally set. The fire was set in the living room area of the home located at 998 Zipps Road in Hartwell, Georgia.

“The 3,200 square-foot, 34-year-old home has been unoccupied for several years and was completely destroyed by the blaze,” said Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King. “If you have any information on the individual or individuals responsible, I ask that you call my Fire Investigations Unit at 1-800-282-5804.”

Rewards are offered of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the arsonist(s). Calls are taken 24 hours a day and callers can choose to remain anonymous.

Commissioner King’s Fire Investigations Unit is assisting the Hart County Fire Department and the Hart County Sheriff’s Office with this investigation.
