Harley W. Goodman, age 97, of Toccoa, Georgia, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, October 3, 2024.
Mr. Goodman was born on March 10, 1927, in Breckenridge, Missouri, to the late Charlie and Goldie Mae Goodman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Frances Goodman; son, Ricky W. Goodman; and all of his siblings. Mr. Goodman was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Harley was of the Christian Faith and was very much a family man, proudly raising his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for spoiling his family, especially his great-grandchildren. He spent most of his career as a farmer, tending to the family land and livestock. One of his favorite parts of being a farmer, were the trips to the Sale Barn in Eastanollee. Harley was a proud World War II Veteran, serving his country proudly in the United States Army.
Survivors include his daughter, Shirley Doss, of Toccoa; son, Dennis Goodman, and granddaughter, Amber Harmon, who they adopted and enthusiastically spoiled as their fourth child; sons-in-law, Dennis Doss and Mark Harmon, daughter-in-law, Deborah Goodman; grandchildren, James Milligan, Ricky Goodman, II, DJ Goodman, great-grandsons, Nathaniel Doss and Sebastian Harmon; great-granddaughter, Lilly Goodman, and a multitude of nieces, nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, with Pastor Grady Walden officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Army and the Grant Reeves Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2024, at the funeral home.
