Costumed kids of all ages will take to the streets of Habersham Monday to trick-or-treat and it won’t just be homeowners who greet them. Shop owners and municipalities are getting in on the Halloween fun.
Here’s a rundown of public places you and your family can go to be entertained (and get free candy!):
Downtown Cornelia, 3 – 5 p.m.:
The Cornelia Business Association is hosting downtown trick-or-treating. There will be a costume contest at the Historic Train Depot. Enter to win a prize. Also, Habersham Hardware will have a costume contest among its employees. Stop by and cast your vote for your favorite.

Downtown Demorest, 5 – 7 p.m.:
Games, trick-or-treating, hayrides and much more!
Theater students from Piedmont College will offer face painting for a nominal fee (between $3-$5) as a fundraiser for the theater department.
Treats at Truett, 6 – 9 p.m.: While it’s not in Habersham, Truett-McConnell College in neighboring Cleveland always puts on a good show at Halloween. The indoor carnival, hayrides and trick-or-treating make for a fun family outing.
Trunk ‘R Treat at Cleveland Worship Center, 6 – 8 p.m.: If you’re already in Cleveland, or heading that way, add this to your Halloween fun list. The Cleveland Worship Center is hosting its annual Trunk ‘R Treat event. There will be a Jumpy/Slide and train ride for kids, a cake walk, costume contest, chili cook-off, face painting, coffee/hot choc station, and s’mores!
