A longtime Northeast Georgia law enforcement officer was laid to rest today. Chris Bachelor, 42, of Maysville, passed away last week at Northeast Georgia Medical Center due to complications of COVID. His funeral is scheduled at 3 p.m. today, Monday, August 30, at Christ Place Church in Flowery Branch.

Bachelor was a Banks County native and veteran law officer who was working as a School Resource Officer in Hall County at the time of his death. He previously served as a deputy with the sheriff’s offices in Madison and Barrow counties.

Family and friends remember him as a “kind-hearted and soft-spoken man.”

“He always looked out for people in need and dedicated himself to protecting people and making sure his family, community, and the students at C.W. Davis middle school were safe,” his obituary says.

Bachelor, who was with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office for 14 years, served as an SRO at C.W. Davis Middle School for the past six years. The school paid tribute to him on Twitter, saying “he was a loved and valued member of our Falcon family, and we will miss him terribly.”

Deputy Bachelor is survived by his wife and 11-year-old daughter, Reagan, who the family describes as “the most important person in his life.” A family friend has set up a college fund for her.
