Hall County Sheriff’s Office warns of phone scam

The Hall County Sheriff's Office warns of a new phone scam asking for money.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office wants to alert you to a phone scam claiming to be the Hall County Sheriff’s Office and asking for money to settle an issue.

The person on the phone claims to be attempting to collect money for a “civil issue” that needs to be taken care of with some form of payment. Do not fall for this scam. It isn’t real and people can lose money because of it.

The latest phone number reported to the HCSO has the last seven digits of 341-0832. Investigators called the number and got an automated voicemail from a female AI voice.

There were several errors in the outgoing message, including the actual name of the sheriff’s office. Similar to email phishing, the errors in it easily identify it as fake, and the same is true for these types of calls.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office wants you to know it will never call and ask for your funds to “settle” some sort of issue. HCSO advises you to hang up the phone and notify their office at 770-531-6900 or you can email at hcsopio@hall county.org
