Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigators have charged two 18-year-olds in connection with yesterday’s fatal shooting of a Greenville, South Carolina, man. Junior Gabriel Linares, also 18, died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Wednesday evening, the sheriff’s office announced deputies had arrested Victor Alejandro Flores and Anthony Rebollar in connection to the shooting that happened off Ga. 13/Atlanta Highway.

Investigators charged both suspects with tampering with evidence, possession of a handgun during the commission of a crime, and possession of THC oil. In addition, investigators charged Flores with involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct.

Shooting near Chicopee Street

Around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, deputies responded to the 2000 block of Walker Drive near Chicopee Street. When they arrived, they found Linares lying wounded in the street. Deputies assisted bystanders with providing first aid until EMS arrived.

Hall County Fire Rescue transported Linares to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he died.

The sheriff’s office says deputies and investigators recovered a handgun and interviewed people who were at the scene when the shooting happened. As a result, they determined there was no threat to the community and released a statement to that effect.

Officials sent Linares’ body to the GBI Crime Lab for autopsy.

Flores and Rebollar remain in the Hall County Jail without bond. The case remains under investigation, although officials say no further arrests are expected.
