Hall County’s government has named an interim director of development services after the resignation of Randi Doveton.

Captain Barry Shaw of the Hall County Government Marshal’s Office replaced Doveton on Dec. 11.

Shaw has overseen the Marshal’s Office since 2019, according to officials, and formerly oversaw Hall County Business Licenses for nearly a year. He had a 30-year career with the Atlanta Police Department, where he served as the commander of APD’s Code Enforcement Section, before he came to Hall County.

“Barry brings a wealth of experience in leadership, customer service and quality assurance,” Hall County Administrator Zach Propes said. “Additionally, Barry has extensive knowledge of the Hall County community. We are grateful for his willingness to serve in this interim position and know his knowledge and community relations will be invaluable in ensuring continued progress. We look forward to the positive impact he will make as we navigate this transition.”

Doveton’s last day was Dec. 11. Hall County didn’t specify a reason for Doveton’s resignation. She served as development services director for two years.

“We appreciate Randi’s work on the development of the comprehensive plan…and her efforts towards creating a more streamlined experience in development services,” Propes said. “We appreciate her service to Hall County, and we wish her well in all her future endeavors.”
