The Hall County Animal Shelter is offering a new and creative way to find new homes for animals through its “Shelter Speed Dating” initiative.
“Our ‘Shelter Speed Dating’ event is an amazing opportunity for people looking to adopt or simply spend the day with one of our adoptable dogs,” Hall County Animal Shelter Manager Stephanie Maloch said. “There is no better way to get to know one of our animals than by spending one-on-one, quality time with each other outside of the shelter so you can better determine whether you are a perfect match.”
During the event, potential pet owners seeking to adopt dogs can participate in “Doggy Day Out,” where they’ll have the chance to take an adoptable dog out for a day. This socializes the animals while giving potential adopters a chance to bond before making a lifelong commitment. To participate, individuals must be registered as volunteers with the Hall County Animal Shelter.
“For those seeking a more long-term bonding experience, we recommend participating in our ‘Foster to Adopt’ program. This program allows you to temporarily bring a shelter pet into your home, with the option to adopt once the relationship is established between the pet and potential pet owner,” Maloch said. “The process is a little bit different because citizens will have to be registered as an approved foster and meet all requirements before they can take a pet home, but we will help make that process as easy as possible.”
The event is expected to last through February, according to county officials.
