Congratulations to the winners of this year’s Now Habersham HABoween Costume Contest! We received nearly 300 photo entries. The public voted with “likes” on our Facebook page. The top three vote-getters will receive VISA gift cards.
Thanks to everyone who participated.
1st place: Atticus Khadayat
3-year-old Atticus was going to be a Demorest firefighter for Halloween but wound up back in the hospital. (Now Habersham readers may recall the sweet photo of him with the AirLife paramedic who helped save his life back in March.)
“Since he couldn’t wear his original costume with everything he was connected to, his sweet nurse dressed him up as Spider-Man with one of the costume gowns that they have for kids spending the holiday admitted,” explains Atticus’ mom, Susan Khadayat.
As the first-place winner of our costume contest, Atticus will receive a $75 VISA gift card.
“Thank you to everyone who helped him win and to Now Habersham for doing this contest,” says Susan Khadayat. “He’s happy to be home now and excited about going to pick a new toy with his prize.”
2nd place: Layla Carpenter
One-and-a-half-year-old Layla Carpenter of Rabun Gap dressed as a lamb for Halloween. Her mom, Courtney Carpenter, says Layla loves animals, especially sheep!
“She loves to listen to “Baa Baa Black Sheep,” and if you ask what does a sheep/lamb say, she will yell “BAAA,” so I decided it was a perfect fit for her. She loved being a little lamb, and I think she was the cutest one ever,” says Courtney.
As the second-place winner of our costume contest, Layla will receive a $50 VISA gift card. Her mom is grateful.
“Thank you to our family, friends, and others who voted for our sweet girl in this cute competition!”
3rd place: Peyton, India, & Brittany
When friends Peyton Wall, India Kelley, and Brittany Brown decided to help out the local animal shelter by attending its first-ever Howl-ween party, they didn’t know they’d also make a little money themselves.
The trio from Baldwin, Cornelia, and Clarkesville dressed as Wednesday from “The Addams Family,” Cousin Eddie from National Lampoon’s “Christmas Vacation,” and as a throwback to the 70s/80s.
Peyton submitted the photo.
“Yay, thank you!” she said upon learning they placed third in Now Habersham’s HABoween Costume Contest. They will receive a $25 VISA gift card.
“Thank you so much for hosting this fun contest, and thank you to everyone who voted for us!”
Honorable mentions
Here’s a look at some of the other entries we received. Thanks again to everyone who entered the contest and voted. We’ll be back again next year with HABoween 2024.
