Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Georgia has opened its application period for its Homeownership Program, offering qualified families the opportunity to purchase affordable homes built in partnership with the community.

Despite common misconceptions, Habitat homes are not given away. They are sold to low- and moderate-income partner families at no profit and with minimal interest. Families who qualify invest “sweat equity” by working alongside volunteers to help build their own homes.

According to Habitat of Northeast Georgia Executive Director Brian Young, applications are only accepted once or twice each year. This is a good opportunity for families seeking stable, affordable housing in Habersham and White counties.
